Playing The Trump Card: Ivanka Trump at Neiman Marcus Northpark

A few weeks ago, one of my idols visited Neiman Marcus Northpark.  The Ivanka Trump stopped by Neiman's for an afternoon of photos with fans and jewels.  Ivanka Trump presented her newest fine jewelry collection called "Empire," which was inspired by Manhattan's iconic skyscrapers.  For Ivanka, the architectural structures represent the strength and style of the modern woman.  Plus, an art deco cuff can add some seriously bold sparkle to complete any outfit.

Ivanka Trump is a unique kind of celebrity.  Entrepreneur, designer and author are just a few words to describe Ivanka.  She's also smart, stylish, successful and so sweet.  Building a fashion and lifestyle brand doesn't happen overnight.  Along with her dad and brothers, she is an executive at The Trump Organization.  She studied at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania's Wharton business school.  She also has two super-cute kids.  Not many people do all of that by the time they turn 33.
In addition to designing her collection, Ivanka recently relaunched her website where she offers a wealth of cool content for working women to enjoy.  There's a section on the site called #WomenWhoWork featuring modern, inspirational career women.  As the ultimate working woman, this seems fitting for Ivanka.  After all, she's the kind of career girl I aspire to be like.

Ivanka was one of the celebrities that I've been most excited to meet.  As a fan of The Apprentice for as long as I can remember, meeting her was amazing.  Ivanka Trump's fine jewelry is available at Neiman Marcus.  And remember, "Rock Tradition!"

Diane von Furstenberg in Dallas! Neiman Marcus Northpark

Most people dream of owning a designer dress.  But very few people have the chance to get style and fit advice from the designer herself.  Neiman Marcus at Northpark made the shopping experience extra special for clients when Diane von Furstenberg was standing outside the fittings room, ready to tie the wrap dresses of hundreds of Dallas women.
Ken Downing, Diane von Furstenberg and Karen Katz

Diane von Furstenberg, DVF for short, is known for inventing the revolutionary jersey wrap dress that's celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.  With a new Wrap 40 collection, a book called The Woman I Wanted to Be, and the House of DVF show on E!, 2014 really is the year of DVF.  Neiman Marcus is on a roll this fall with tons of designer personal appearances.  Chuck Steelman the Corporate Manager of Special Events at Neiman Marcus was there to make sure every guest got a selfie with Diane.  Other Neiman's execs like fashion director Ken Downing and CEO Karen Katz accompanied the designer to introduce the designer at the beginning of the event.  It was a night of important people and another unforgettable experience at Neiman Marcus Northpark!

SMU PR Girls ♥ Chuck Steelman

One of the most experienced and stylish guys in the fashion industry joined Fashion PR class at SMU on Tuesday, Oct. 28.  Chuck Steelman is the Corporate Manager of Special Events at Neiman Marcus and the Regional Director of FGI Dallas.

The 13 girls in the class got the rare opportunity to explore the career path of a fashion industry professional.  Beginning with his experience on a department store teen board (like I did at Nordstrom!) to tons of pictures of designers he's worked with, Chuck has done it all.  He's so good at creating legendary NM events to give customers special, once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

For someone as busy and influential as Chuck, he was so cool to take the time to talk about his job and allow us to ask questions... lots of questions!  The fashion industry hopefuls - everyone - in the room were eager to hear what he had to say.

Rosanne Hart (Professor Hart) has consistently impressed me with the speakers she's brought in to speak to the class.  It's such a privilege to have the opportunity to hear from some of the best in the business.  Previous Speakers include Galleria Dallas stylist Holly Quartaro and Power PR CEO Amy Power.  Lisa Petty is scheduled to share her fashion industry insights on Dec. 2!

Tory Burch at Neiman Marcus Northpark Dallas

Neiman Marcus Northpark was swarming with stylistas today, October 8, to meet Tory Burch on her trip to Dallas.  This lady needs no introduction.  Her personal appearance event has been on every fashion fanatics' agenda for weeks.  Here in Dallas, the Tory trend started with the famous Reva flats and has since become an empire of "double-T" logo fashions.  In fact, my favorite pair of heels are Tory's.

Tory was just as lovely as her iconic shoes, purses, and clothes.  She even signed personalized autographs and got pictures with fans.  Burch appears petite and teeny in photos, and even more so in person.  The latest Tory Burch collection at Neiman Marcus has lots of fall must-haves.  Shop some of my favorite Tory Burch picks at the end of this post.

Thank you to Neiman Marcus and Fashion Group International of Dallas for hosting Tory Burch.  And a special thank you to Chuck Steelman and Rosanne Hart for making the experience so wonderful.

Grapevine Mills Makes Summer Sizzle Again in 2014

"Hot in Pink" at Last Call Grapevine Mills! Neiman Marcus dress found here and in store.
Grapevine Mills: long time, no see...seriously!  It had been nearly a year since attending a fashion event at Grapevine Mills.  But I couldn't stay away for that long - I did some spring shopping at Last Call at the beginning of the season.  The Last Call at Grapevine Mills is the best I've been to, by the way.
The Cool Buddies: Dionne Dean, me, Leah Frazier, Briana Roker, and Emilie in the front!
The Mills crew was nice enough to let me bring Emilie to a "real fashion event" as she said in anticipation several times over the weeks before the event.  She was even more excited because the event happened to fall on her birthday (June 12) and was another celebration.  Grapevine Mills has a team of friendly and fabulous people who make sure every shopping experience at Mills is a special one.  At the summer event, Leah Frazier, Dionne Dean, and Briana Roker were also in attendance.  They became Emilie's new "cool buddies" quickly!  These fashionable, gorgeous girls were so sweet to her, and it makes me love them all even more than I did before.
Black & White polka dots never go out of style... Neiman Marcus blouse (similar here and more in store!)
After mingling, we all headed over to Last Call for a mini summer runway presentation.  As soon as the last model finished her walk, the shoe-obsessed gals Leah, Dionne, and Briana sifted through designer kicks that were on major clearance at Last Call.  I returned that weekend and found at RED Valentino dress for $100 (normally about $600... find another cute one here).
"Hot in Pink" Rebecca Minkoff Blazer (found at Last Call online and in store at Grapevine Mills)
Grapevine Mills is the home to tons of retailers, most of them name-brand stores with a discount.  It's only about 20-30 minutes from North Dallas and trust me... it'll be worth the trip!
Leah scored this chic jacket for a steal at Last Call Grapevine Mills!

They're also going to be starting a renovation with new stores this fall.  Mills really does mean more... especially Grapevine Mills!

Neiman Marcus Laura Mercier Event this Saturday June 14

Neiman Marcus at Northpark invites you to an exclusive Laura Mercier event this Saturday, June 14 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.  Quality and elegance are two words that I associate with Laura Mercier.  No matter your age, Laura Mercier cosmetics are kind of timeless.  Join Neiman Marcus at Northpark for a Saturday of shopping, hors d'oeurvres, and champagne.  In addition to the Neiman Marcus Camp Gorgeous event that's happening, they're offering some really legit gifts when you buy Laura Mercier cosmetics.  Here's a summary of the free gifts you'll receive when you shop at the Laura Mercier counter on Saturday:
$100 - Neiman Marcus 7-piece gift tote
$125 - Laura Mercier 5-piece travel set
$175 - Full size skincare product (tbd)
$500 - HUGE gift basket with full size products

Global makeup artist Ryan Thomas will also be on hand to offer great makeup tips for summer.  And to make the event even more interesting, there's a contest to see who has what it takes to be the top Laura Mercier counter in the USA.  It's an intense battle between Neiman Marcus at Northpark Dallas and Bergdorf Goodman in NYC.

Even though I never really need to buy more makeup, I always want to buy more makeup.  And I want Dallas to come out on top.  Hope to see your beautiful faces at Neiman's this Saturday.

To kick off fall, Lisa Petty hosted another one of her awesome seasonal shopping parties at Neiman Marcus Last Call.  Designer discounts are my weakness, and Last Call is packed with them.  Lisa and the DFW Style Daily team sure know how to throw a fun party!

Experience a World of Fashion History Comes to Dallas Thanks to Remy Fine

Dolce, Dior, Oscar, oh my!  A new fashion exhibit has come to town.  But it wasn't organized by a museum... Greenhill senior Remy Fine coordinated the whole thing at Neiman Marcus in Downtown Dallas for her capstone project.  The exhibit is a must-see.  Every Dallas stylista will love Remy's exhibit.

After talking to Remy and looking at all the designer vintage clothing, I chatted with her friend, fashion designer and Greenhill junior Mary Lo.  Just like Remy, I can't wait to see what she does in the future.

VINTAGE MARTiNi supplied the clothes for Remy's exhibit.  Now it's your chance to Experience a World of Fashion History.  Her project was such a success that Neiman Marcus extended the exhibit from one day to one week.  Just one recommendation to her teacher: Remy deserves an A+!

DFW Style Daily's Tea Party at NM Last Call

Lisa Petty, Me, Yvonne Crum
Lisa Petty, editor of DFW Style Daily, hosted a shopping tea party at Neiman Marcus Last Call.  After some begging, I let my mom tag along.  She loved meeting Lisa Petty and chatting with the lovely Yvonne Crum.  I always have such a good time at Lisa's events.  Thank you for another good one, Lisa!

SHONA Designer Jewelry at Neiman Marcus

Dallas-based designer jewelry line SHONA is coming to Fort Worth's Neiman Marcus store on February 28 for a trunk show and personal appearance by designer Shona Gilbert.  I found out about SHONA, which is sold online and at Neiman Marcus, from my blogger friend Cynthia Smoot so I figured it must be pretty fab.  The line is gorgeous!  Check it out on SHONA's website.

DFW Style Daily + Lafayette 148 at Neiman Marcus

DFW Style Daily hosted a successful event at Neiman Marcus Northpark, featuring Lafayette 148 New York's new collection.  Lafayette 148 is a modern classic line, crafted with the finest silks and leathers.  The clothes were obviously stunning and very 60s-inspired.  In addition to all the beautiful clothes on the runway and off, I met so many lovely stylistas at the event!  I loved sitting next to Yvonne Crum during the fashion show.  She introduced me to Steve Kemble, US Weekly fashion police, blogger, and Dallas style icon.  I also sat next to fashion show producer Rhonda Chambers.  Lisa Petty, editor of DFW Style Daily, was the runway commentator.  We met last summer at a Marie Claire event in Fort Worth.  I also met fashion designer Eric Renteria and his model / girlfriend Jennifer Reed.  And of course, I couldn't go to a fabulous event like this one without running into my old friend Cynthia Smoot of Oh So Cynthia.  I only have one word to describe about the event: fabulous!
