Galleria Dallas Hosts 2016 FGI Dallas Rising Stars Awards

Fashion Group International (FGI) of Dallas recognized some of the brightest fashion industry stars in Dallas earlier this March.  FGI is a world-wide professional organization for those who work in the fashion industry, many of whom are entrepreneurs.  The 18 FGI Dallas Rising Stars nominees this year were chosen for both their fashion sense and business savvy.  As usual, the Galleria Dallas was a fabulous host and Jan Strimple wowed us again with her runway show featuring Galleria Dallas retailers and the Rising Stars fashion nominees.  

I'm so happy to know several of the 2016 Rising Stars nominees and admire their work.  I have to give a special shout out to my friend Taylor Miller, who has run a successful business Hazen Jewelry since she was nine.  She and I went to SMU together and bonded over our mutual love of fashion and business.  By far the youngest of the 18 nominees recognized this year and I know we're all looking forward to following the progression of her business.

FGI Dallas Honors Prabal Gurung at Night of Stars Nov. 13

Fashion Group International of Dallas is throwing its Night of Stars party this Friday, November 13!  It's one of the biggest Dallas fashion events of the year to honor great people in the fashion industry.  Industry veterans and up-and-comers alike are recognized for their accomplishments at Night of Stars.  This year, the big Career Achievement award is being presented to Prabal Gurung, a designer who has made a great impact with his notable collaborations with Target, MAC, and his work with a Nepal-based earthquake relief effort in Nepal with Shikshya Foundation.  His designs have been seen on celebs like Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Lawrence and countless others.           

"We are thrilled to be honoring such a talented designer who has also made a significant difference in the lives of others." said Chuck Steelman, the Regional Director of FGI Dallas.

Tory Burch at Neiman Marcus Northpark Dallas

Neiman Marcus Northpark was swarming with stylistas today, October 8, to meet Tory Burch on her trip to Dallas.  This lady needs no introduction.  Her personal appearance event has been on every fashion fanatics' agenda for weeks.  Here in Dallas, the Tory trend started with the famous Reva flats and has since become an empire of "double-T" logo fashions.  In fact, my favorite pair of heels are Tory's.

Tory was just as lovely as her iconic shoes, purses, and clothes.  She even signed personalized autographs and got pictures with fans.  Burch appears petite and teeny in photos, and even more so in person.  The latest Tory Burch collection at Neiman Marcus has lots of fall must-haves.  Shop some of my favorite Tory Burch picks at the end of this post.

Dorey AromaTherapy

I received a box of fabulous natural products from Dorey AromaTherapy last week.  The box smelled so good before I even opened it so I knew I would enjoy these products.  Aroma therapy is using essential oils for physical and psychological well-being.  What a nice treat for final exam study breaks!  Dorey AromaTherapy is a natural skincare line that brings "vitality into your life."  There are 4 areas of the product line: WellCare, BodyCare, SkinCare, and HomeCare.  I got to try the Emotional Support Cream, Organic Body Butters, and the Bath Fizzie products.  The Emotional Support Cream helps with stress, anxiety, and depression.  The Body Butters are so gentle on my sensitive skin.  They make my skin so soft.  And I LOVE bath stuff, so the Bath Fizzie Salts and Message in a Bubble Bath Fizzie are so relaxing.  And everything smells so good, of course.

Mary Ellen Dorey is the owner of Dorey AromaTherapy, which is based in Plano, TX.  She's even been featured in WWD and The Dallas Morning News.   Ms. Dorey and I sat next to each other during the runway show at the Fashion Group International A Night of Stars.  We had such a fun time together ooo-ing and aaa-ing over clothes on the runway.  In addition to experience in the aroma therapy industry, Ms. Dorey has 25 years of experience in retail.
