Project Emilie: Thanksgiving Spectacular 2013

Instead of cooking for Thanksgiving like we did last year, Emilie and I decided to take the day off.  We enjoyed each other's company while chatting and cheers-ing.  Thanksgiving isn't the most glamorous holiday, but it's an important one.  There's lots to be thankful for, and I could bore you with a long list.  One of the things I'm most thankful for is Emilie's unconditional love.  Anyone who knows Em, even if you've only met her once, knows exactly what I'm talking about.

Brahmin Galleria Dallas Redefines Timeless Style

The Brahmin store at Galleria Dallas was buzzing with stylistas for the recent Glam Up Your Gadget event.  Brahmin just added a line of custom tech cases to its collection.  Imagine your iPad or iPhone decked out in a beautiful Brahmin case!
In addition to Brahmin's most loyal fans, the store welcomed several fashion insiders including the stylish Dawn Mellon, blogger Katy Atlas, and Brahmin's retail director Victor Pereira.  Dawn is a famous stylist in Dallas, a contributor for D Moms, and one of DFW Style Daily's Best Dressed 2013.  Katy is a Houston-based lawyer by day and fashion blogger by night.  They were both so lovely to chat with.
Dawn Mellon talking to her new purse, "I'll be back for you..."

Brahmin's latest holiday purse line is gorgeous!  They have a way of making sophisticated, timeless styles that are modern at the same time.  When asked about my favorite bag I said, "Everything!"  I usually don't have a problem with focusing.  But when you stick me in a room full of purses, my attention flits around.  Glitter and rich metallics are going to be big this holiday season.
Brahmin sales associate Rachel shows off one of her many favorite purses!

Head over to Brahmin's website or to the Galleria Dallas boutique to get a fabulous gift for that special someone on your list.  Hint hint!

Philip Kingsley Elasticizes Your Hair this Winter

This is the first cold, wintery weekend in Dallas and it's really starting to take a toll on my hair.  With my fine, oily hair, I'm always cautious about using heavy hair products.  Luckily, Philip Kingsley has introduced it's hero product: The Elasticizer Pre-Shampoo Treatment.  When healthy hair is wet it stretches, but when it's brittle it breaks.  Philip Kingsley's Elasticizer replenishes your hair with suppleness and bounce without weighing it down.  Use once a week, especially when you're planning on straightening or curling your hair.   Philip Kingsley specializes in trichology, the scientific study of the hair.  Get all of their hair treatment products on the Philip Kingsley website!

Project Emilie: Partyin' With Larry North

Back in September, Larry North Fitness celebrated its seventh anniversary at Preston & Royal.  If you've been following Project Emilie, you know that she does a strict exercise program at Larry North.  I knew that she had lots of friends at the gym, but I didn't realize how big of a celebrity Emilie is at Larry North.  What's so funny is that she only works out once a week (and that's generous), yet she's had such an impact on all of these people.  Trainers, managers, and her fellow gym members LOVE her, and I think it's so cute!

Neighbors of the gym joined in to make the evening special, including a team of stylists from The Hair Bar to do hair and makeup touch-ups.  Guests were also encouraged to help Larry raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Whenever swag is involved, Em is there!
A day in the life of Emilie: multiple stylists working on her at the same time.
Us with Larry North.  He's such a nice guy and LOVES Emilie!

Project Emilie: Christine's Bridal Shower

This is the card Christine sent to all of the Bridesmaids.  Guess which one is me!
Christine and John's big day is just around the corner!  Emilie and I are so happy for Christine, my cousin and Em's niece.  John is such a good guy and we're so happy that he's part of our family.  We joined the bride, her friends and family, and her husband-to-be for a classy afternoon affair.

Christine and John scored some FUNctional gifts.  I got her the Kate Spade bride and groom earrings.  They're super-cute!  Em picked out some cool wine glasses for the couple.  Her mom (my Aunt Lou Lou) made them one her of famous, fabulous quilts!  Every guest left with a "wedding survival kit."

May28th Watches: New Site, More Style

Tick tock, tick tock!  It's time to get a cool, modern watch from May28th Watches.  Watches aren't just for function, they're also really fun accessories.  When you can't look at your phone for the time, having a watch is really handy.  Just last week I took a test in a room with no clock, and my May28th kept me on track.  When you're in a boring class or meeting and looking at your phone would be inappropriate, you can rely on your favorite May28th watch.  Plus, watches are like glasses... they make everyone look smarter.

This fall, May28th launched a new and improved website with even more custom features, like 50/50 band color choices and glossy or matte finish options.  Now fans can even vote on the design they want to be produced next.  May28th has had high-profile collaborations with brands like Free People and one of my favorites, Kate Spade.  I can't wait to see what they do next.  Rumor has it that there are some cool new European partnerships on the horizon.

The watches featured in this post are the "1:16 Watch" and the "1:12 Watch."  Get them for $39 each on May28th's fabulous new site!

GlamST... It's Virtual Makeover Time!

The new GlamST app is going to knock your fake eyelashes off.  This latest innovative will allow beauty queens like you to upload your photo, learn about the latest beauty trends, and virtually try on face and lip products from your favorite brands.

Imagine yourself at your favorite luxury makeup counter, overwhelmed by the rich lipsticks and the scent of posh perfume.  Trust me, I've been there and it can be difficult to resist getting caught up in buying every product the salesperson shows you.  Sometimes, buying makeup can be risky.  You never know how your new makeup will look on you until you take it home and experiment.  And once you spend a lot of money on the makeup that doesn't meet your expectations, you're stuck.  Luckily, you don't have to fall into this trap again with GlamST.

Whether you're searching for a new look or just want to have a little fun, GlamST sounds like a brilliant idea.  If you have Windows 8, download the app at the Windows store today.  This December, GlamST will be available for every platform.  Sign up for email updates on the launch of the new web app on the GlamST website.  Once this comes out, I'll be one of the first to try it out!

dENiZEN Denim Perfection at Target

I've discovered the perfect jeans: dENiZEN by Target and Levi's.  I never thought I could find a quality pair of jeans that does it all until I tried a pair of dENiZENs.  And at $27.99, you'll want to buy more than one pair.

I test-drove my own pair of dENiZEN's award-winning Essential Stretch Modern Boot Cut jeans.  The color, "Limo," is a sleek dark-washed denim with flattering back pockets and luscious stretch.  In fact, they're just as comfortable as my work-out leggings and don't look like "pajama jeans."  They still look brand-new even after washing them.  Plus, the boot cut style complements my cowboy boots fabulously!
I don't understand why shopping for jeans has to be so stressful.  Finding a classic style and wash that will be fashionable season after season isn't easy.  Not to mention the difficulties with fit and comfort.  Luckily, you don't have to worry about any of that with dENiZEN jeans.  They're stylish, flattering, super-comfy, and a STEAL!  This style and dark wash will take you from day to evening.  Just add a little leather jacket and a few accessories to dress up your outfit.  Get your dENiZENs at Target in stores and online.  Whether you're in need of skinny's, shorts, boot cuts, or jeggings, dENiZEN's got it!

Lights! Camera! DFW Style Daily's Best Dressed 2013 at Galleria Dallas

This is a very long-overdue post.  Last month, I got to attend one of the fashion events of the season. I have one word to describe DFW Style Daily's Best Dressed 2013 event: INCREDIBLE.  Not only was the event fashion-forward, I was especially impressed by the turnout.  Literally everyone involved in the Dallas style scene was there to support some great causes on the ice rink at Galleria Dallas for the big "Best Dressed" reveal.  For being a community of people with a lot of different jobs and interests within the fashion industry, Dallas stylistas always seem to love and support one another.  This was definitely apparent at Best Dressed 2013.  That's why it makes me proud and grateful to be part of Dallas' fashion community.  The money raised from the event was evenly split between the Suicide and Crisis Center and Dallas Can Academies.  From what I could see in the audience of over 700 people, it was a very successful fundraising night for these two awesome charities.
Yvonne Crum and Steve Kemble
This event's layout was unlike any other event I've been to before.  Instead of having just one fashion show, there were several fashion shows produced by Jan Strimple featuring clothing from Galleria Dallas retailers.  While watching the runway shows you could mingle with friends, sip cocktails (if you're at least 21), and sample some delicious bites of food from Galleria Dallas restaurants.  It was pretty cool!

There are too many people that I met and chatted with that I'm afraid I'll forget to mention someone.  So I'll give you a few highlights.  Of course, all of DFW Style Daily's fabulous team was there, including Lisa Petty (editor-in-chief extraordinaire).  Yvonne Crum always inspires the audience with her passionate dedication to the Suicide and Crisis Center.  I hung out with Yvonne's fabulous friend Regina Bruce for the whole night.  And of course, America's Sassiest Lifestyle Guru, Steve Kemble, was the life of the party.  Famous blogger pal Cynthia Smoot dazzled in a green Lela Rose dress.  And this is just the beginning of the long list a stylistas in attendance!

One of my BFFs, Yvonne Crum

Make sure to check out the Best Dressed honorees on DFW Style Daily.  See you at next year's DFW Style Daily's Best Dressed!  If it's half as fabulous as this year's, I guarantee it'll be a night to remember.
