Oscars 2015 Glam: Get the Celeb Look

A few weeks ago was the pinnacle of awards season, the Oscars.  Everyone watches it and they're great, but let's be honest, it would get pretty boring without the fashion.  There's something about couture gowns, diamonds, and impossibly perfect makeup that puts me in the spirit of the season.  $7.5 million worth of diamonds walked down the red carpet this year!  Get the stars' looks - red lips, statement necklaces and lots of diamonds.

Goop! Gwyneth Paltrow Opens Popup in Highland Park Village

Gwyneth Paltrow popped into Dallas a few weeks ago to unveil her new Goop popup shop in Highland Park Village.  Gwyneth surprised Dallasites as the "special guest" at a Goop event.  Seeing her was a special surprise indeed.  Does it get any better than a private tour of GP's store by the actual GP?  Even though she's one of Hollywood's most well-known actresses, she had this lovely, down to earth vibe that was really cool.  She was dressed like a normal person, which made her, and Goop, seem so relatable to everyone.

GP introduced the Goop concept in 2008 as a weekly email newsletter.  Since then, it's become a phenomenal fashion and lifestyle brand featuring Gwyneth's favorite products as well as fashions designed by GP and top designers.  Goop's products can be purchased online or if you're lucky, you may live in one of the cities where GP decides to pop up a temporary Goop shop.  

Goop's Highland Park Village store is thoughtfully separated into sections that match a woman's lifestyle.  Upon opening the door at Goop, which is located at 3 Highland Park Village right next to Preston, you'll be awed with the variety of exclusive designer collaborations with Monique Lhuillier and Diane von Furstenberg.  You'll also spot the perfect gift for everyone on your list.  Step into the kitchen area to find cooking accessories and GP's cookbooks.  Retreat to the bedroom to try some of GP's favorite natural skincare products and luxurious monogrammed pajamas.  I wanted to transplant the entire Goop store into my house.    

When Goop leaves Dallas on Dec. 14, don't fret.  You can still purchase Gwyneth's exclusive products on her website.  But seriously, get gooped up because Goop is fabulous!

 

What Makes You Beautiful: Makeup by 1D Giveaway!

Sam Edelman at Nordstrom Northpark

I had the opportunity to meet legendary shoe designer Sam Edelman earlier this spring.  Nordstrom Northpark Center was the perfect setting for Mr. Edelman's fans to shop his latest collection and snap some photos with the designer.  After 30 years of experience in the industry, it's clear that he knows exactly what women look for in the perfect shoe.  As a salesperson at Nordstrom Galleria Dallas for the past few seasons, Sam Edelman was my favorite brand to sell.  Because why wouldn't you want to own a pair (or several) of Sam Edelman's?  They're stylish.  They're comfortable.  And they're affordable.

Meeting the man behind a brand that you actually wear every day is even cooler than meeting a celebrity.  Sam Edelman is part of the everyday life of thousands of shoe lovers.  I'm so happy to have gotten to chat with the one who designed several of the flats, heels, and wedges in my closet.  It's also inspiring to meet someone who has made his passion profitable.  He worked for several well-known brands like Ralph Lauren and Kenneth Cole, and even built the iconic brand Esprit.  You may remember the brand Sam & Libby, which he started with his wife in the late 1980s.  After realizing a need in the market for fashion-forward footwear at a reasonable price point, he started his namesake brand in 2004. 

As usual, Nordstrom knows how to put on an awesome event.  Women's Shoes manager Angela Hudson goes above and beyond to make her department look perfectly merchandised, and there was no exception for the Sam Edelman event.  Pretty displays and a photo booth made the event even more fabulous.  I also got to catch up with Nordstrom co-workers and friends Michael Fiorendino and Chris Dekkers.  It was an eventful evening to say the least.  I'm looking forward to talking with Mr. Edelman soon and seeing what shoes he comes up with next season.

Welcome to Galleria Dallas, Belk!

You've probably noticed all of the people hard at work for the past several months to get the new Belk store ready for Galleria Dallas shoppers. The store is finally ready and is opening with a bang.  It's first event at the Dallas flagship sounds like it'll be one of the events of the season.  It's this Thursday, April 3 and will benefit Susan G. Komen (get a ticket by donating $50).  Here are a few celebs you may spot this Thursday:

• Lucy Dang, local fashion designer

Wow.  That's a lot of star-sightings for one night!  The fashion show featuring Belk's brand offerings will be happening at 8:00.  100% of ticket sales will go to Susan G. Komen.  Plus, all guests will get a $25 Belk gift card, 5 lucky winners will receive a $1,000 Belk shopping spree, and one guest will take home a guitar autographed by Blake Shelton. 

The "official" grand opening (ribbon cutting) is on April 9, but the store did an early opening to the public last weekend.  Belk carries lots of brands I love, but I think I'm most excited about the mini Kate Spade store inside Belk.  Here are some pictures I snapped the day before the opening.

Sharon Garrison from Drop Dead Diva at Nordstrom!

This is a very long overdue post. My internship at Nordstrom has been so crazy busy that I haven't gotten a chance to tell ya'll about meeting Sharon Garrison, Texan and star of Drop Dead Diva on Lifetime!  She visited Nordstrom Galleria Dallas for a styling session from the best stylist ever, Chris Ayton.  Chris hurriedly took me to the shoe stockroom to tell me about his celebrity client, and her role on the famous TV show that I have been watching from the beginning.  For Chris, styling celebrities is the norm.  But for me, meeting a celebrity at work is pretty cool.  Just from spending a few minutes with her, I could tell that she would be a lot of fun to hang out with on the set of Drop Dead Diva.  Thank you Chris for introducing me to such a fabulous star.

Nordstrom Beauty Trend Show 2013: Chanel Makeup Tips

A select group of girls got to hear from Chanel's global makeup artist, John Fussell, at Nordstrom Galleria Dallas during the Beauty Trend Show.  He spilled his celebrity makeup tips and trust me, I wrote them all down to share with you stylistas!  Here are his top 5 tips:

 1. "Airbrush" your blush with your foundation brush.

2. Contour with light, not dark.  Light creates illusion and looks expensive.

3. When you wear black, it pulls out the warmth of the skin, so wear bronzer.

 4. Match your blush color with the color of your fingertip.

5. The nail trend this season is the darker the color, the shorter the nail is supposed to be.

Roberto Cavalli Red Carpet Exhibit at Northpark

Northpark Center displayed celebrity red carpet gowns by Roberto Cavalli this past week.  You may have seen celebs wearing these dresses in magazines, but I got to see them up close.  

Roberto Cavalli dresses some of the biggest supermodels, actresses, and musicians for the red carpet.  Paparazzi cameras flashed behind the celebrity mannequins; I felt like I was getting a real red carpet experience.  You know I love seeing couture in person, stylistas.  Get inspired by these beauties!
