Diane von Furstenberg in Dallas! Neiman Marcus Northpark

Most people dream of owning a designer dress.  But very few people have the chance to get style and fit advice from the designer herself.  Neiman Marcus at Northpark made the shopping experience extra special for clients when Diane von Furstenberg was standing outside the fittings room, ready to tie the wrap dresses of hundreds of Dallas women.

Diane von Furstenberg, DVF for short, is known for inventing the revolutionary jersey wrap dress that's celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.  With a new Wrap 40 collection, a book called The Woman I Wanted to Be, and the House of DVF show on E!, 2014 really is the year of DVF.  Neiman Marcus is on a roll this fall with tons of designer personal appearances.  Chuck Steelman the Corporate Manager of Special Events at Neiman Marcus was there to make sure every guest got a selfie with Diane.  Other Neiman's execs like fashion director Ken Downing and CEO Karen Katz accompanied the designer to introduce the designer at the beginning of the event.  It was a night of important people and another unforgettable experience at Neiman Marcus Northpark!    

SMU PR Girls ♥ Chuck Steelman

One of the most experienced and stylish guys in the fashion industry joined Fashion PR class at SMU on Tuesday, Oct. 28.  Chuck Steelman is the Corporate Manager of Special Events at Neiman Marcus and the Regional Director of FGI Dallas. 

The 13 girls in the class got the rare opportunity to explore the career path of a fashion industry professional.  Beginning with his experience on a department store teen board (like I did at Nordstrom!) to tons of pictures of designers he's worked with, Chuck has done it all.  He's so good at creating legendary NM events to give customers special, once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

For someone as busy and influential as Chuck, he was so cool to take the time to talk about his job and allow us to ask questions... lots of questions!  The fashion industry hopefuls - everyone - in the room were eager to hear what he had to say. 

Rosanne Hart (Professor Hart) has consistently impressed me with the speakers she's brought in to speak to the class.  It's such a privilege to have the opportunity to hear from some of the best in the business.  Previous Speakers include Galleria Dallas stylist Holly Quartaro and Power PR CEO Amy Power.  Lisa Petty is scheduled to share her fashion industry insights on Dec. 2!

CH Carolina Herrera Northpark Helps Nexus this Wednesday

Tory Burch at Neiman Marcus Northpark Dallas

Neiman Marcus Northpark was swarming with stylistas today, October 8, to meet Tory Burch on her trip to Dallas.  This lady needs no introduction.  Her personal appearance event has been on every fashion fanatics' agenda for weeks.  Here in Dallas, the Tory trend started with the famous Reva flats and has since become an empire of "double-T" logo fashions.  In fact, my favorite pair of heels are Tory's.

Tory was just as lovely as her iconic shoes, purses, and clothes.  She even signed personalized autographs and got pictures with fans.  Burch appears petite and teeny in photos, and even more so in person.  The latest Tory Burch collection at Neiman Marcus has lots of fall must-haves.  Shop some of my favorite Tory Burch picks at the end of this post.

Sam Edelman at Nordstrom Northpark

I had the opportunity to meet legendary shoe designer Sam Edelman earlier this spring.  Nordstrom Northpark Center was the perfect setting for Mr. Edelman's fans to shop his latest collection and snap some photos with the designer.  After 30 years of experience in the industry, it's clear that he knows exactly what women look for in the perfect shoe.  As a salesperson at Nordstrom Galleria Dallas for the past few seasons, Sam Edelman was my favorite brand to sell.  Because why wouldn't you want to own a pair (or several) of Sam Edelman's?  They're stylish.  They're comfortable.  And they're affordable.

Meeting the man behind a brand that you actually wear every day is even cooler than meeting a celebrity.  Sam Edelman is part of the everyday life of thousands of shoe lovers.  I'm so happy to have gotten to chat with the one who designed several of the flats, heels, and wedges in my closet.  It's also inspiring to meet someone who has made his passion profitable.  He worked for several well-known brands like Ralph Lauren and Kenneth Cole, and even built the iconic brand Esprit.  You may remember the brand Sam & Libby, which he started with his wife in the late 1980s.  After realizing a need in the market for fashion-forward footwear at a reasonable price point, he started his namesake brand in 2004. 

As usual, Nordstrom knows how to put on an awesome event.  Women's Shoes manager Angela Hudson goes above and beyond to make her department look perfectly merchandised, and there was no exception for the Sam Edelman event.  Pretty displays and a photo booth made the event even more fabulous.  I also got to catch up with Nordstrom co-workers and friends Michael Fiorendino and Chris Dekkers.  It was an eventful evening to say the least.  I'm looking forward to talking with Mr. Edelman soon and seeing what shoes he comes up with next season.

7 For All Mankind x Malhia Kent Couture Debut

French couture fabrics met 7 For All Mankind's denim this season with the introduction of the new Malhia Kent for 7 For All Mankind collection.  Malhia Kent is a French textile company, and a supplier for the big names: Chanel, YSL, Proenza Schouler, and more.  Inspiring couture pieces that can be worn daily?  I was so in, so I attended the Dallas launch party for the line at Northpark's 7 For All Mankind store.  Sea of Shoes fashion blogger Jane Aldridge was the evening's host.

Nerd Alert! Visionworks' Back to School Night at Northpark
