Top Picks: Nordstrom Beauty Trend Show Spring 2015

With the start of each season comes the Nordstrom Beauty Trend Show at the Galleria Dallas, a runway show extravaganza where the hottest fashion and beauty trends are featured for an audience of excited guests.  What's different about this show is that even though it's early in the morning on a Saturday, there's so much energy, coffee and perfume in the air that you quickly forget how early you woke up!

Nordstrom Regional Beauty Director for the South Gilbert Vera did an amazing job hosting the show.  A true beauty expert with 15 years of experience, Gilbert led us through the top 3 trends of the season: New Neutrals, The Right Bright Lip, and Sculpting Made Simple.     

Pretty much every big beauty brand that Nordstrom carries was mentioned on the runway, but a few brands in particular had some innovative new products that I think people need to know about!  If you were to buy only 3 new products this season, here's what you need:

1. Clarisonic (shop here)
You can't have a beauty event without talking about the Clarisonic, which some people are skeptical about using until they've tried it.  The Clarisonic rep said, "Everyone with skin needs a Clarisonic!"  I think she meant to say everyone needs a Clarisonic, but nevertheless I totally agree with her and loved that comment.  She highlighted the new Smart Profile Clarisonic, but I think any Clarisonic is great.

2. Dior Lip and Cheek Glow (shop here)
Normally I wouldn't splurge on a single product, but this one has more than one use and gives you a customized glow because it works with your skin's unique pH.

3. Yves Saint Laurent Couture Variation 10-Color Eye Palette (shop neutral "Nu" set here and purple "Tuxedo" set here)
Everyone needs an all-in-one eye shadow palette for easy and beautiful eyes.  Both the Nu and Tuxedo sets have great essential colors, so if you're picking one it just depends on your style.

Fall 2013 Nordstrom Beauty Trend Show

Beauty enthusiasts flocked to Nordstrom Galleria Dallas for one of my favorite events of the year, the semi-annual Nordstrom Beauty Trend Show.  The smell of perfume and the allure new makeup products attracted literally hundreds of women to attend the event at 8:00 AM on a Saturday!  The morning started with a Beauty Bash and lots of beauty giveaways.  My friend Megan Carradine of FAME MC won a Smashbox prize after being there for 2 minutes.  It was pretty sweet!  Cynthia Smoot, another one of my blogger buddies, was in attendance because she never misses a fabulous event!   

The runway was decked out with models showing off Nordstrom's latest fashion and beauty trends.  Beauty pros from across the country flew to Dallas to get everyone pumped for fall beauty.  Each major brand sold at Nordstrom was represented by a different brand ambassador who explained all of the benefits of their newest products.

Besides the awesome runway show and amazing beauty demonstrations, my favorite part of the event was how excited everyone was.  In between brand presentations, audience members would get up and start dancing.  I loved it!  No one knows how to put on an event like Nordstrom!

Nordstrom Beauty Trend Show 2013 at Galleria Dallas

Happy, happy, happy, Nordstrom, Nordstrom, Nordstrom.  My favorite store, Nordstrom at the Galleria Dallas, (you all know I work there in the summer and the holidays... wink wink) hosted a spring Beauty Trend Show.  I was so happy to be personally invited by Kelly Hunter to attend because I LOVE learning about new beauty trends.  And I wasn't the only one.  Over 400 people were also pumped to see the exciting spring products Nordstrom has to offer.  My makeup-obsessed Aunt Julie was so disappointed that she couldn't make it.  And of course, I saw my blogger friend Cynthia Smoot at the event.   


Karen Delauro, the Regional Beauty Director for the Mountains and South, got the crowd going as she led the beauty presentation.  I felt inspired by her suggestions and her knowledge.  She didn't make me feel intimidated to try these new products.  The event was a 2-hour run through of the major beauty brands at Nordstrom... I was in heaven!  Plus, I got a fabulous gift bag filled with skincare products, perfume, and makeup!  After the show, makeup junkies could get their makeup done at all of the counters at Nordstrom, which is always a treat.  I had such a fun time and cannot wait til the Beauty Trend Show 2014 at Nordstrom!

Nordstrom Beauty Trend Show 2013: Chanel Makeup Tips

A select group of girls got to hear from Chanel's global makeup artist, John Fussell, at Nordstrom Galleria Dallas during the Beauty Trend Show.  He spilled his celebrity makeup tips and trust me, I wrote them all down to share with you stylistas!  Here are his top 5 tips:

 1. "Airbrush" your blush with your foundation brush.

2. Contour with light, not dark.  Light creates illusion and looks expensive.

3. When you wear black, it pulls out the warmth of the skin, so wear bronzer.

 4. Match your blush color with the color of your fingertip.

5. The nail trend this season is the darker the color, the shorter the nail is supposed to be.
