Ouidad and OGX Frizz-Free Summer Hair Products

Here in Texas, we're known for our big hair.  With all the humidity we experience in the summer, something has to be done about preventing frizz.  Humidity makes many of us get big hair, but not in a good way.  Luckily, two of my favorite hair brands, OGX and Ouidad, are fighting my frizz this summer!

OGX (you may have also seen it called Organix) is a high-quality haircare brand with a wide range of products at affordable prices. You can pick up an OGX shampoo, conditioner, and a styling product all for around $25 at Ulta, Target, and Wal-Mart.  The new Kukui Oil collection by OGX contains kukui nut oil, a natural humidity repellant.  Seeing the word "oil" in hair and skin products makes me nervous, but I had quite the opposite reaction when I saw how shiny and nourished my hair looked after using the shampoo, conditioner, and anti-frizz spray.
Ouidad is known as "the curl expert" but curly-haired beauties shouldn't be the only ones who get fabulous and healthy hair results. The Ouidad Climate Control products are not just lightweight and effective. There are also some interesting hair tips and techniques for using the products on the back of the bottles. For example, most conditioners are rinsed out immediately. They suggest you leave it in for a few minutes and comb through your hair. I also find that just combing through with my fingers works just as well if I forget to put a comb in the shower. You can even leave a little bit of the conditioner on your ends for a leave-in treatment. My favorite product from this Ouidad collection is the Climate Control Frizz and Flyaway Fighter Spray... you can use it on wet or dry hair to prevent or eliminate flyaways!
I've been very pleased with products from both Ouidad and OGX. But I think these two collections, Climate Control and Kukui Oil respectively, are their best so far. Since using these products alone or in conjunction, I've gotten a lot of comments on how good my hair looks.  I even mix the shampoos and conditioners and use both sprays at once.  I also switch back and forth between the collections.  I'm a big believer in switching up your beauty routine so that your hair doesn't grow accustomed to one product or brand.  When styling my hair, I spritz some OGX anti-frizz oil on my wet hair and finish with the Ouidad Frizz and Flyaway Fighter. Frizz-free perfection!
Special deal alert from Ulta online: OGX products are buy one, get one 50% off.  When you purchase $25 of Ouidad products get a free gift.
I'm so glad I used these frizz-fighting products before trying on these beautiful Krown headpieces!

Every Queen Needs a Krown

You know what they say, a woman's hair is her crowning glory.  Designer Kaylen Morrison adds some sparkle to your krowning glory with her line of headbands and headpieces: Krown.  Drawing inspiration from music, art and fashion is how Kaylen keeps us coming back for more of her beautiful, handmade designs.

Kaylen has a really cool background in fashion.  After studding a pair of boots with 13,000 Swarovski crystals, one by one, Skullcandy Headphones hired her to customize a pair of Swarovski headphones for Kate Upton.  This inspired Kaylen to start her business Krown in 2013.

"The people in Dallas are so amazing, compassionate and genuine which in its own right is the best style."
- Kaylen

Krown’s couture quality makes them red carpet-worthy.  Hollywood stars like Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, and Sarah Hyland are just a few who discovered Krown through Instagram. Kaylen also donates headpieces to girls suffering from cancer at a hospital in Long Beach through her Krowns for Kids charity.

If you want to work in the fashion industry, Kaylen says that a passion for fashion will make all of the hard work and dedication all worthwhile.  I love that!  Her style icons are Kate Moss and Alexander McQueen.  She describes her style as "bohemian Princess" which is actually the Krown vibe.

Kaylen lived in Dallas for a year in college and it became one of her favorite cities.  She now lives in California.  There’s a Krown that suits everyone and for every occasion.  Finally, someone is designing unique headbands!  And a special thank you to Bri Crum for letting me borrow some beautiful Krown headpieces!  See Krown designer Kaylen on a recent Good Morning Texas episode with Bri.

Essentials that Make Spring Travel a Little More Beautiful

Even though we have a good time on vacation, I think most of us can agree that traveling can be stressful.  My biggest travel stressor is packing as light possible so that my bag doesn't exceed the weight limit and has enough room to bring back souvenirs.  An easy way to make space in your suitcase is bringing travel size products that take up less space.  Organix and Ole Henriksen has me covered!
Major haircare and beauty brands are smartening up about their travel offerings.  Don't settle for the boring, generic travel stuff that doesn't do your hair justice.  The new line of mini Organix shampoos and conditioners are not only adorable, they make your hair soft and shiny.  Plus, they're TSA approved so you can throw them in your carry-on.  Another travel essential is makeup remover.  I love these Truth to Go Vitamin C Wipes by Ole Henriksen because they're so gentle, unlike some makeup remover wipes that sting my sensitive skin.  Plus, the vitamin C brightens the skin too!  We all need that after a long day on the plane.

I've already tested these fabulous travel products at home and love the results, but I don't want to use them up just yet.  I'm saving them for my trip to Florida for a wedding this month.  Where will you take your travel goodies this spring?

Sleek-ly Chic Hair With Organix... Breast Cancer Awareness With Ouidad

Since I started using Organix hair products, my hair has never looked better.  The products in the new Moroccan Argan Oil line nourish my hair, making it shiny without weighing it down.  My latest Organix obsession is the Moroccan Argan Creme.  It really is the creme de la creme.  And it smells great too!  Fall is here an winter is coming, so this is just what I need to use to protect against dry winter hair.

After blow drying my hair with Organix products, I set my style with Ouidad's Styling Mist, which is a lighter alternative to hairspray.  After hearing about Ouidad's Curls for a Cure Program, I was even more interested in using their products.  In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Ouidad encourages clients and fans to donate to the Breast Cancer Research Fund.  Ouidad matches every dollar donated by customers, and they have raised close to half a million dollars to date through the Curls for a Cure Program.  The coolest part is that Ouidad's dedication to breast cancer awareness doesn't end after October is over - it's a year-long campaign to raise money for breast cancer research.  To learn more about this great fundraiser, visit Ouidad's website.

With Organix and Ouidad, we can have fabulous hair without spending a lot!

Runway-Ready Hair in Real Life

Having runway-ready hair every day would be awesome, but let's get real.  Behind the scenes at the runway shows, we all know those models aren't doing their own hair.  Most of us don't have access to the world's top hair pros, but that doesn't mean we can't get that runway hair in real life.  In honor of my love of the runway, I've added Organix Blow Out Cream and Ouidad Styling Mist to my beauty routine for model-esque hair when I'm working all of life's runways.

The Organix Blow Out Cream has nourishing Moroccan Oil, which is something I've been hearing about but had never tried before.  It makes my hair smooth and shiny.  I set my style with the Ouidad Styling Mist, which is like hairspray with more flexibility.  My hair stays in place without looking like I have helmet-hair.

So all of this sounds great when you've freshly styled your hair, but I put these products to the test in real life.  In 100+ degree weather at the SMU football game, the humidity didn't get to my hair.  On the golf course, my hair stayed flyaway-free.  Most importantly, at Yvonne Crum's ultra-chic, fancy fashion event, my hair was mingle-ready.

Supermodel or not, we all need to have fantastic hair.  I absolutely love using the Organix Blowout Cream and the Ouidad Styling Mist because they're perfect for all of life's runways!
