7 For All Mankind x Malhia Kent Couture Debut

French couture fabrics met 7 For All Mankind's denim this season with the introduction of the new Malhia Kent for 7 For All Mankind collection.  Malhia Kent is a French textile company, and a supplier for the big names: Chanel, YSL, Proenza Schouler, and more.  Inspiring couture pieces that can be worn daily?  I was so in, so I attended the Dallas launch party for the line at Northpark's 7 For All Mankind store.  Sea of Shoes fashion blogger Jane Aldridge was the evening's host.

The mix of rich colors and vibrant prints make these pieces so interesting.  It's definitely something that's never been done before.  Make sure to get your couture jeans from the Malhia Kent for 7 For All Mankind line now!

The Fashion Group International's A Night of Stars

The Fashion Group International’s annual event honors fashion’s legends and rising stars to provide students with fashion scholarships.  This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award in Fashion recipient was Shelly Musselman, co-founder of Forty Five Ten boutique in Dallas, who passed away earlier this year.  Her style and spirit were present at the event as a unique collection of her clothes from 3 decades walked the runway.  She was a supporter of up-and-coming designers, and knew how to balance new and well-known, edgy and classic labels at Forty Five Ten.  Ms. Musselman’s daughter received the award on behalf of her mother.  She announced the Shelly Musselman Fashion Scholarship, which will begin in 2012.

Jan Strimple - I didn't ask her for a picture because she was so busy.  But I did meet her after interviewing her twice!  She was so nice!

Brian Bolke, co-owner of Forty Five Ten, curated a unique selection of Shelly’s clothing for a runway show.  The fashion show was produced by Jan Strimple.  She had an impressive collection of designer fashions, from Comme des Garcons to Valentino, as well as other covetable brands.  Her style was unique and timeless.  “The Eighties” fashion show scene was my favorite because it wasn’t stereotypical eighties, it was so modern.  I also really enjoyed Ms. Musselman's extensive collection of Alexander McQueen pieces.

Shirin Askari and Jane Aldridge were among other honorees at the event.  We all know Shirin from season 6 of “Project Runway,” and she was the recipient of the Rising Star Award for Fashion Design.  Looks from her latest collection were included in a runway show.  Jane Aldridge, Sea of Shoes blogger, was given the Rising Star Award for Fashion Communication.

Several Dallas celebrities were in attendance at the Fashion Group International event.  I met Heidi Dillon, Dallas fashion-icon and founder of The Fashionistas.  An episode “Big Rich Texas” was also being filmed at the event.  I don’t think you can get more A-List than that!
