Au Revoir Saks, Au Revoir Barneys

It's time to say good-bye to two major fashion retailers in Dallas.  The news came out this morning that Saks at the Galleria Dallas is closing.  Months ago, Barney's at Northpark announced that they would be closing too.  What is this?  Well, people don't dress in head-to-toe designer anymore.  Replacing Saks is more well-priced Belk.  I've never shopped at Belk... who am I kidding, I have never shopped at Saks or Barney's either!  I am a little sad, but I'm also excited for a new shopping destination at the Galleria.

Fashion News: David Beckham Hearts Hosiery

News flash!  Super-hunk David Beckham was into wearing hosiery as a child.  I recently got into wearing hose, and have loved tights for a long time.  If tights and hose are good enough for David Beckham, they're definitely good enough for me!  Just another reason that hosiery is the way to go!

Brad Goreski + Kate Spade

Rachel Zoe's former employee and BFF Brad Goreski got a job as a stylist for Kate Spade.  His impeccably preppy style fits with the Kate Spade image, but he was always complaining on The Rachel Zoe Project when he had to work that I'm surprised he was hired by Kate Spade.  Brad will be working with Kate Spade creative director Deborah Lloyd, who says she has been a fan of his "style and spirit" for a while.  Styling ad campaigns and fashion presentation are just a few major tasks he will be working on at Kate Spade during his 2-year contract.  Brad's new Bravo show It's a Brad Brad World premiered last night, I didn't even watch it.  I'm kind of over Brad since his falling out with Rachel Zoe.  I'm a huge fan of Kate Spade, and Brad's style, but I don't know if he has enough experience or passion.  What do you think of this partnership?  I think I know how Rachel is feeling about Brad's sudden popularity...

Dallas Morning News Recognizes College Fashionistas

The Dallas Morning News did an article about Texas college fashion bloggers.  College students aren't going to class in their PJs anymore, there's a new concern for being fashionable.  The article highlights SMU's fashion media minor, SMU Fashion Week, and SMUStyle.  It also mentions big names in SMU fashion Shelby Foster, Meg Jones, and Grace Davis.  I'm a blogger for SMUStyle, which I've found has a huge following in Dallas.  Read the article here.

Fashion News: Neiman Marcus Sponsors Project Runway All-Stars

Dallas-based retailer Neiman Marcus has signed on to sponsor the All-Star season of Project Runway.  NM Fashion Director Ken Downing will guest judge the first and final episodes and designers will complete their looks with the "Neiman Marcus Accessory Wall."  The winner will have their collection sold in 5 stores and online.  No scenes from the show were filmed in Dallas, but does this mean a potential Project Runway-Dallas connection?  One can only hope...
