Look Du Jour: Studs

We all want to feel like a stylista rock star sometimes, right?  I love how these Sam Edelman shoes make studs look feminine.

Look Du Jour: Peter Pan Collars

Polished, youthful, and Parisian, I j'adore Peter Pan collars.  I've been seeing them in magazines everywhere, but these cute collars are so hard to find. You're in luck, stylistas, because I found the place that features a variety of Peter Pan collars, ASOS.com

The New "New Look"

The Dior Spring 2012 couture show was today in Paris.  The collection looks like it is heavily inspired by Christian Dior's famous 1947 "New Look."  The cinched waist and flowing A-line shirt is classic and feminine.

Fashion Week Dallas 2012 Day 4

Me with Mahiri Takai.  This backdrop was designed for him especially for FWD!

The Fashion Week Dallas extravaganza continued Thursday with three runway shows.  Can it get any better?

The first show featured hats and headpieces designs by It’s Lynette.  I met the designer, Yvette Lynette Lax, at the Carpe Diem Bride show at Fashion Week Dallas.  We bonded over our love of hats and headbands (my signature accessory!).  I was so impressed by her uniquely beautiful hats.  Bows and flowers were featured in most of her hats.  Check out It’s Lynette on her website and at Etsy.

Also featured was Emmaline by Sophia Clarke from Houston.  Her collection was inspired by the sunset and the islands.  Many of the looks included rich shades of orange and pink.  There was an easy, breezy feel to the collection that I loved.  The finale of the night was the Sacred Hearts Collection by Brandi Russell from Dallas.  Her clothes were beautiful and detailed with lots of pleating and ruffles.  She obviously has a huge following because the crowd couldn’t contain themselves when the designer, Brandi Russell, walked the runway at the end of the show.

Fashion Week Dallas 2012 was so much fun.  It’s gonna be a long year until Fashion Week Dallas 2013!  I hope I survive. ;)

Dior Scented Nail Polish

Smelling like roses is better than smelling like an acetone-soaked nail salon, right?  Dior has released two new scented nail polishes in the Garden Party Spring collection.  So now when you go to the garden party, your nails can smell like a garden too!  You can buy these lovely lacquers at Nordstrom.

Fashion Week Dallas 2012 Day 2

Me with Mahiri Takai
Fashion Week Dallas 2012 exulted on Tuesday night!  Multiple stunning wedding dresses from Dallas’ Carpe Diem Bride were showcased on the runway at the cool venue, House of Blues.  Carpe Diem Bride does it all: wedding dress consultations, photography, and hair and makeup for weddings as well as other major events.  The finale dress was exclusively designed for Fashion Week Dallas by Binzario Couture, a Dallas bridal company.  How cool is that?

After the show, I ran into Mahiri Takai again.  He’s done an excellent job building up the Dallas fashion community by featuring local designers and businesses at Fashion Week Dallas.  And remember, Fashion Week Dallas isn’t just about fun fashion shows, FWD is also raising awareness for AIDS and other charities.  For more information on the schedule of events this week and to get your tickets, visit fashionweekdallas2012.com.
