Jan Strimple on SMU's Alpha Chi Couture event

Jan Strimple

I did my second interview with Jan Strimple for SMU's Alpha Chi Couture event.  Fabulous, international, fashion-icon, Jan Strimple hosted the SMU Alpha Chi Couture fashion show.  I caught up with Jan to talk about the show, and to see what she’s been working on since Fashion’s Night Out in September.

This was Jan’s sixth year to host this fabulous event by SMU Alpha Chi Omega members and area alumnae.  She says of the Alpha Chi Omega members, “Watching these young women make it happen is very inspiring.”  The event benefits the Genesis Women’s Shelter, and Ms. Strimple explains she was “impressed by their vision and commitment to helping women in need and welcomed the opportunity to orchestrate the fashion show.”  She says that she gave a tutorial to Alpha Chi Omega women the first year, and now they do everything to bring the show to life.  Humbly, she acts as the “wings for guidance.”

Ms. Strimple is one of the busiest women in Dallas.  As always, it is so great to see her in person!  I was hoping to meet her after the fashion show, but unfortunately for me, she had to run to another event.  Right now, she is on the task force for the John Paul Gaultier exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art.  Jan is excited that museum curators are now embracing fashion as art, and Dallas will “collectively hyper-ventilate.”  I completely agree!  November 18th, Ms. Strimple produced the Fashion Group International's A Night of Stars: The Fashion & Lifestyle Awards.  That was a fabulous event as well!
